Gebrev tangles up in his own Dunarit lies

Emiliyan Gebrev, an arms dealer and associate of the fugitive banker Tsvetan Vassilev, got tangled up in his own lies in yet another interview for bTV. Gebrev, who is on his way to oversaturating the channel’s programming with his second appearance on a bTV show in just a week, gave a long statement whose purpose was to reiterate the manipulation that his attempted poisoning was connected to Dunarit. However, he only managed to sink deeper into the quagmire of manipulations spread by the crime duo of him and Vassilev.

Prosecutor’s Office: Gebrev poisoning not related to Dunarit

The attempted poisoning of arms dealer Emiliyan Gebrev, who has served as a pawn to fugitive banker Tsvetan Vassilev over the past few years, was not related to the military plant Dunarit. This was made clear in a press release by the Prosecutor’s Office, which describes in chronological order the developments of the investigation into the alleged poisoning of Gebrev, his son Hristo and the commercial director of EMKO. The Prosecutor’s Office announced that it was disclosing the information at the instruction of Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov in response to certain media outlets’ speculations that no work was being done on the case.

Thief Tsvetan Vassilev churns out transparent lies about Delyan Peevski

There is a Bulgarian saying that literally translates as “Lies have short feet”. If we were to modernise it a bit, we would add “and thieves have prolific tongues”. That is especially true when said thieves have billions of levs stolen from CorpBank depositors behind their back. Thanks to the embezzled money, in the case of Tsvetan Vassilev the proverbial tongue is powerful enough to reach Sofia all the way from Belgrade.

The whole scheme devised by the criminal duo Tsvetan Vassilev and Emiliyan Gebrev to steal Dunarit is among the revelations that have come out of the espionage scandal that has rocked Bulgaria over the past few days. A one-page report entitled “Gaining control over Dunarit AD by EMKO EOOD” emerged from the documents seized by the Prosecutor’s Office as part of the investigation that has resulted in the indictment of Nikolay Malinov, former Bulgarian Socialist Party lawmaker and publisher of the newspaper Duma and current head of the National Movement “Russophiles”.

The Fake News Factory once again hit a writer’s block recently and thus found itself resorting to yet another fake news item about lawmaker and Telegraph Media publisher Delyan Peevski. In an article entitled “Commission for taking down the competition”, the Factory’s flagship – the weekly newspaper Capital owned by indicted publisher from the town of Razgrad Ivo Prokopiev – includes Peevski’s name without clear connection or reason.

Why is Emiliyan Gebrev making the rounds of TV studios?

Tuesday: in the morning – half an hour of airtime on bTV, in the afternoon – 25 minutes on the Bulgarian National Radio, and that same night – one hour on the programme of Sasho Dikov. This is followed by 30 minutes on Bulgaria ON AIR on Wednesday morning. No, this is not the busy schedule of a rock star or some genius inventor. Neither is it the schedule of the country’s president, who surely would have something important to say to the nation.

Emiliyan Gebrev lies about Dunarit on air

There is one basic rule that every liar tries to stick to: always remember exactly how you lied about something because the mastery of lying is in the details. In other words, in the era of internet and free access to information, every word can be checked and therefore be the reason why a lie is exposed. The arms dealer Emiliyan Gebrev must have skipped these lessons in his communist training prior to 10 November 1989 because he dares to lie shamelessly on national air these days – and about things that can be checked with one click, at that.
